Mercy Tembon
Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the World Bank Group
Dr. Mercy Miyang Tembon is an accomplished Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the World Bank Group, bringing over 30 years of extensive leadership experience across Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia. Before her current role, Dr. Tembon served as the World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, and prior to that, as the Country Director for Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
Her deep-rooted commitment to education is evidenced by her founding of the Parents’ National Education Union Nursery and Primary School in Bamenda, Cameroon, where she continues to serve as a Lifetime Board member.
Dr. Tembon holds a Ph.D. in the Economics of Education and a master’s degree in education policy, Planning & Management. Her contributions to the World Bank have been recognized through numerous awards, including the World Bank Group Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award in 2010 and the WBG Staff Association’s Excellence in Leadership Award (ELA) in 2014.
