Priscilla Addison
Co-chef of ’57 Chocolate
Priscilla Addison is co-founder and co-chef of ’57 Chocolate, Ghana’s pioneer artisanal bean-to-bar chocolate company. Driven by her vision in marketing, communications, and storytelling, she leads the branding and outreach efforts that position the company not just as a chocolate maker, but as a cultural ambassador for Ghanaian cuisine and craftsmanship. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service (specializing in international development) and has worked in international development and communications roles before turning her energy toward chocolate manufacturing. Together with her sister Kimberly, she launched ‘57 in 2016, after realizing during a visit to Switzerland that while Swiss chocolate is famed, Ghanaian cocoa beans are often processed abroad rather than being transformed locally. Their mission is to reverse that: to make premium chocolate in Ghana, using local ingredients, traditional art (such as Adinkra symbols) and small-batch techniques.
Under her leadership in external affairs, ‘57 Chocolate has been featured in major outlets including Bon Appétit, Lionesses of Africa, BBC News, CBS News, NBC News, and more. These features highlight the company’s commitment to quality, the cocoa-value chain, and Ghanaian economic empowerment. Priscilla’s work seeks not only to build a successful luxury food brand, but to change narratives about African made goods and to inspire youth and entrepreneurs in Ghana to see value in local production.
