Ibrahim Agboola Gambari

Ibrahim Agboola Gambari is a Nigerian diplomat and scholar, born in 1944 in Ilorin, Kwara State. He has had a distinguished career in international diplomacy and governance, serving as Nigeria's Minister for External Affairs and Permanent Representative to the United Nations. He held key UN roles, including Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Special Adviser on Africa. In addition to his diplomatic work, Gambari was the President of UNICEF’s Executive Board and a mediator in international conflicts. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the Chief of Staff to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. Gambari is a thought leader on global governance, conflict resolution, and African development.
