Ato Gyasi

Senior Director, Africa Finance Corporation
Ato Gyasi is Senior Director at Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), an investment-grade, multilateral financial institution created by African sovereign states to provide pragmatic solutions to Africa’s infrastructure deficit. AFC has 43 member countries and has invested approximately US$13 billion across Africa. Ato is responsible for AFC’s sovereign and corporate-facing businesses across all its coverage and product areas and is a member of various key management and investment committees. He also represents AFC on the Board of Directors of a number of investee companies. In his previous executive role, Ato served as a pioneer Co-Head of Investment Banking at RMB Nigeria, where he successfully contributed to the establishment of a thriving, full-service Investment Banking Division covering advisory, capital markets, and financing. He had a distinguished banking career at Rand Merchant Bank in South Africa, covering various roles before joining RMB Nigeria. Ato has over 20 years of financial services experience working across Africa, with a strong track record of leading business units with sizeable teams of investment banking professionals and managing large investment portfolios across multiple jurisdictions. He has particular expertise in infrastructure financing across all assets and products and has executed over US$10 billion worth of award-winning transactions. Prior to his banking career, Ato practiced as a civil engineer with design, construction, and project-management experience. He received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering (with distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Master of Business Administration from Wits Business School in South Africa. He is also an alumnus of various executive programs, including IMD. He is married with two daughters and enjoys cycling.
