Dr. Moses OBINYELUAKU

Senior Manager, Development Impact at the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank)
Dr. Moses Obinyeluaku is an accomplished economist with deep expertise in monetary and fiscal policy, trade and development economics, regional economic integration in Africa, and capacity building. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Obinyeluaku currently leads the Development Impact Monitoring and Evaluation at Afreximbank, where he oversees the Bank’s framework to enhance the effectiveness and impact of its operations across Africa. Before joining Afreximbank, Dr. Obinyeluaku served as the Chief Economist at the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa, where he provided strategic economic insights on trade policy. He has also worked as an international consultant for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), focusing on Africa’s industrialization agenda. Additionally, Dr. Obinyeluaku has held senior positions, including Director of the Medium-Term Expenditure Planning Unit at South Africa’s National Treasury and Deputy Director of Macroeconomics at the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Treasury. Earlier in his career, he was a lecturer in Macroeconomics and Development Economics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Dr. Obinyeluaku has authored refereed publications and has contributed to policy formulation for various government institutions in South Africa, including the Department of Trade and Industry, Economic Development Department, National Treasury, and the Presidency.
