Ben Izegbu

Founder, Bicontinental Group
Ben Izegbu started his career as an investment banker on Wall Street, working closely in the mergers and acquisitions departments of Salomon Brothers and Goldman Sachs. He also worked with the wealth management team at Merrill Lynch. Ben was part of the team that executed a broad range of mergers and acquisitions, including some that impacted the global energy industry. He gained invaluable experience and established financial contacts on Wall Street, which have proven useful to several other companies he has been involved with and has worked with in the oil and gas industry. Ben also served as Director for Africa at Wood Group Power, where he was instrumental in securing several power-related projects on the continent for the Group. Ben went on to establish a small company named Bicontinental Trading Company, which later grew to become Bicontinental Group. He guided Bicontinental through various stages of growth, building an experienced team of managers responsible for various subsidiaries. Today, Bicontinental has offices strategically located in multiple countries where the company operates. Although primarily an energy company in the upstream and downstream sectors, Bicontinental has carefully diversified into the financial and technology industries. Bicontinental Group is a 50% owner of PDI, having invested in Petroleum Development International, the E&P affiliate of the Group. Today, Bicontinental has a presence in Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Guyana, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Africa. Ben sits on several boards, including companies in the energy, financial, and technology sectors, such as Zapata Capital, Paynet Fintech, Zegtel, and United Exploration.
